HELPFUL Ltd. is the registered data controller under ICO Registration number ZA906193, and is committed to protecting your Personal Data.

All references to “we”, “us” or “HELPFUL”, refer to HELPFUL Ltd. HELPFUL is a company registered in the United Kingdom with company number 10663300. This privacy policy outlines how we look after your Personal Data and confirms your rights and how the law protects you and your Personal Data through your use of the HELPFUL account.

It is important that you read this policy, together with any other privacy or fair processing notice we may issue when we are collecting or processing your Personal Data.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we do so, we will let you know via email. The changes will also be made available at www.helpful.world and in the HELPFUL app.

The type of personal information we collect

In order to effectively provide you with our services regarding the HELPFUL account, we currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, such as your first name, last name, marital status/title, date of birth, selfie and gender;

  • Contact information, including home address, email address and telephone number;

  • Copies of any Government ID and documentation you submit to us during the application process;

  • Transaction Data, relating to products and services you have purchased using your HELPFUL card;

  • Usage Data of your HELPFUL account including communications between us and you;

  • Marketing Preferences.

We also may collect, use and share aggregated and statistical data. In law, aggregated data does not qualify as Personal Data when it does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity.

We do not collect any Special Category Data that relates to your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, political views, health and medical records.

During your application for a HELPFUL account, an Identity Generic footprint (IG), otherwise known as a ‘soft footprint’, will be left on your credit file. This footprint is not visible to lenders, and will not affect your credit rating. The footprint is only visible to you should you request a copy of your own credit file from a credit bureau.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for use of your HELPFUL account.

HELPFUL has a legal and legitimate interest in your Personal Data. This means our interest in conducting our business to enable us to provide the best services in an efficient, legal and secure way.

In order to provide our services to you, we may receive Personal Data about you from various third parties as set out below:

  • The banks you use to transfer money to us will provide us with Identity and Financial Data, such as your name and bank account details.

  • Identify verification and fraud prevention agencies, may provide us with information in connection to the information you have provided to us about yourself or to verify your identity.

Please keep us informed if your Personal Data changes during your relationship with us.

How we store your personal information

Your information is stored on HELPFUL’s secure servers. All payment transactions carried out by our third party provider of payment processing services. Appropriate security measures are in place to ensure your Personal Data is protected from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.

Access to your Personal Data may be granted to employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a specific business need to know. They will only process your Personal Data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected Personal Data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

We keep the information you provided during your application for a HELPFUL account and any transaction data from the use of your HELPFUL card for the lifetime of your HELPFUL account. Should you close your account, information will be retained for a minimum of 5 (five) years after that to comply with the law. We will dispose of your information after 6 (six) years unless in some circumstances, like cases of anti-money laundering or fraud, where we are required keep the data longer by law.

We only retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for.

How we use your Personal Data

We will only use your Personal Data when the law allows/requires us to and to provide our services. We use it to maintain regulation on your HELPFUL account as well as protect you and HELPFUL from illegal activities like money laundering and fraud.

www.helpful.world and the HELPFUL app may include links to third party sites. We do not control these third party sites and are not responsible for their privacy policies or any data that may be collected.

Only when expressly required, we may share your personal information with:

  • Anyone who works for us when needed for their job;

  • Any organisation which supports any of our services you use;

  • Third party companies we may employ to collect any outstanding debt on our behalf;

  • Regulators, fraud prevention authorities and other law enforcement agencies where needed to protect against fraud, comply with anti-money laundering laws, or confirm your eligibility to use our services.

The Personal Data that we collect may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (EEA). It may also be processed by staff operating outside of the EEA who work for us or one of our suppliers. Whenever we transfer your Personal Data out of the EEA, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by transferring to countries and organisations that the European Commission say have adequate data protection or that we have agreed standard data protection clauses with.

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your Personal Data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that Personal Data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.

Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will inform you regularly of updates to your request.
